VGA Cables
VGA cables can go by many different names. They are commonly
referred to as SVGA cables, XGA cables, HD15 pin cables or
analog computer monitor cables. Below we will briefly explain
some of the various signal and monitor resolution terminology
that you might find when shopping for VGA cables.
VGA (Video Graphics Array)
Basic VGA supports resolutions of 640 x 480 pixels and 16
colours. This was the standard analog interface used by IBM.
SVGA or SXVGA (Super VGA)
SVGA supports resolutions up to 1280 x 1024 pixels and can
display 16.7 million colours. SVGA is also sometimes referred
to as SXVGA (Super Extended Video Graphics Array).
UXGA (Ultra Extended Graphics Array)
UXGA supports resolutions of 1600 x 1200 pixels and displays
more than 16.7 million colours.
